The Deschutes County Planning Commission is the Planning Commission for the areas of Deschutes County outside of the urban growth boundaries of Bend, Redmond, Sisters and La Pine.  The Planning Commission is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.  The Commission generally meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 5:30 pm in the Board Hearing Room located in the Administration Building, 1300 NW Wall Street, Bend.  Commission meeting agendas and materials can be found on the Community Development Department calendar.  The Planning Commission guidelines and rules are located in Chapter 2.52 of the Deschutes County Code.

The Planning Commission acts as the citizen involvement committee under the Deschutes County Comprehensive Plan and advises the Board of County Commissioners on land use, planning and zoning matters.  The Planning Commission also acts as the initial review body for amendments to the County’s Comprehensive Plan and land use regulations.  The Planning Commission may review land use decisions made by the Planning Division or the Hearings Officer.
