The following birth control methods are available at Downtown Health Center locations in Bend, Redmond and La Pine:

  • Condoms
  • Birth control pills
  • Ortho Evra™ ("The Patch")
  • NuvaRing™
  • Depo Provera™ injections ("The Shot")
  • Implanon™
  • IUD (Paragard™) and IUS (Mirena™) (Intra-Uterine Device and Intra-Uterine System)
  • EC (Emergency Contraception)  - Plan B (the "Morning-After" pill)
  • Spermicide
  • Natural family planning
  • Abstinence education

You will have a chance to learn more about birth control options at your appointment, but you can also explore many options, and hear from people who use them by visiting

No Need For An Exam, Get Birth Control Right Away!
The Downtown Health Center in Bend, Redmond and La Pine offer delayed exams. These allow women to start a birth control method the day they walk into the clinic and without having an initial exam. At the clinic the nurse will carefully screen the client, provide counseling about birth control options, inform about the correct use of the chosen method, and will provide tips for being safer and healthier.

You may qualify for no cost birth control services if you:

Live in Oregon, and
Have proof of U.S. citizenship, (we can help you get a copy of your birth certificate), or, are a permanent resident (5+ years), and
Are a teen (19 and under) and earn less than $2,475 a month
Are an adult (20+ years) and earn up to:

Don't worry if you don't think you qualify for CCARE at the Downtown Health Center! You may still receive free or low-cost contraceptive services through other programs with us.  Just ask! The Downtown Health Center provides all birth control on a sliding fee and will not refuse anyone due to their inability to pay.
