How to Use a Reference to Locate a Recorded Deed

(1) After finding a reference (i.e., Book/Vol and Page) from the Clerk's Metes & Bounds or Subdivision index or from the Tax Lot History Information card (.pdf) in Assessor's DIAL, access WebQuery and use tips below to enter the reference book/vol and page.

  • Tip:  For deeds from 1871 through 1951 (Volumes 1 to 99), documents are available online through WebQuery.   Under Document Type choose the category Deed – Historical Record (D-HR).  Enter Book # % in the Book & Page field to find available book. Then locate the range where the document is located.
  • Tip:  For those deeds from 1952 through 1982 (Volumes 100 to 366), enter the Book & Page in WebQuery.  Under Document Type choose the category Deed – Historical Record (D-HR). Enter the book/vol and page (e.g.,102-1234) in the Book & Page field to locate the record.
  • Tip: From 1985 through 1998 documents are available through WebQuery.  Enter the book/vol and page (e.g.,102-1234) in the Book & Page field to locate the record.
  • Tip: From 1999 to present documents are available through WebQuery.  Enter the Year and Document Number (e.g., 2003 as the Year and 12345 ad the Document Number).  There is no Book & Page assigned for documents recorded after 1998.
  • Computer searchable indexes are currently ongoing for documents that were recorded in 1983 & 1984.

(2) Reference shown on the Assessor’s Tax Lot History card are by date the entry is made and NOT the recording date of the document.
