Republic Services Proposal to Expand Residential Recyclables Collection

Proposal Summary

Republic Services, dba Wilderness Garbage and Recycling, Bend Garbage, and High Country Disposal, proposes to provide residential commingle recycling services in Distant Rural Collection Zones for a service rate impact of $6 per month for curbside collection. The service areas to be offered are as follows:

South of Sunriver
Areas North and East of Bend, Redmond and Sisters

These areas currently offer refuse collection services but not Commingled Recycling services.This service will commence after July 1, 2026.

Proposal Status

A Public Hearing is to be held on February 11, 2026 to get formal comment/input from citizens. Public testimony can be provided in person or virtually via Zoom. The Department of Solid Waste is also accepting written comments from citizens in advance of the hearing.
