What are the quarterly reporting guidelines?

Reports may be filed quarterly only when the monthly amount of tax due is $50.00 or less. Room Tax Reporting - Third Party Booking

If you use a third-party booking service, such as Airbnb or VRBO, you are still required to submit reports to the County, even though they are collecting and paying the room tax for you.

  • Deschutes County requires a room tax filing each month / quarter
    • Monthly if the net tax due is greater than $50/month

    • Quarterly if the net tax due is less than $150/calendar quarter (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sept, Oct-Dec)

Online Booking Platforms

Several changes have taken place that affect the monthly reporting and remitting of the County’s room tax as explained below.

VRBO®, Airbnb®, and Evolve® Platforms

If you are using VRBO or Airbnb, most will calculate the County’s room tax, collect it, and remit it to the County on your behalf.  These platforms only send one report for the County in total.  These platforms do not report for your individual property.  You are still required to file monthly/quarterly transient room tax to report your gross rent to the County.
