County releases Popular Annual Financial Report

Deschutes County has released this year’s Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), a summary guide to the in-depth County annual financial report. The PAFR is designed to help taxpayers understand County financial data.

Both reports reflect information from the 2019-2020 Fiscal Year.

“We hope this report is a helpful tool for residents to better understand the County’s finances,” said County Treasurer Greg Munn.

County installs new property tax drop box at Redmond City Hall

Deschutes County residents who need to make a second trimester property tax payment can drop off payments at the County’s new payment drop box in Redmond. 

The new dropbox, which is located behind Redmond City Hall at 411 SW 9th St., opens today. It will be open during trimester property payment tax windows, which occur in late October to mid-November, late January to mid-February and late April to mid-May. 

Deschutes County adopts FY 2020-21 budget

The Board of County Commissioners has formally adopted Deschutes County's fiscal year 2020-21 budget. The action followed a series of public meetings and hearings by the county’s budget committee in late May.

The newly adopted budget for the County and six service districts totals $508,217,831, which includes property taxes, dedicated state and federal funds, grants, fees for service, and other revenue sources.

Notice of Budget Hearing

A public meeting of the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners will be held on June 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the William D. Barnes Room of the Deschutes Services Center located at 1300 NW Wall Street, Bend, Oregon. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020 as approved by the Deschutes County Budget Committee. A summary of the budget is presented below.

Deschutes County releases proposed Fiscal Year 2021 budget

Deschutes County has released its proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2021. The total budget, including County Service Districts, is $507,820,468, which represents an increase of 0.8% from last year.

The County’s Budget Committee will review the proposed budget this week, beginning Tuesday, May 26, at 9 a.m. A full schedule is available online.

Kennel Licenses

Dogs kept primarily in a kennel and not allowed to run at large, such as show dogs or dogs kept for breeding, are entitled to be licensed at the kennel fee rate. A person requesting licensing at the kennel rate shall establish by affidavit or signed statement:

If the kennel is a commercial kennel, that the kennel complies with applicable land use laws and ordinances;

Notice of Budget Committee Meeting

Pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order No. 20-16, which defines rules for public meetings, including local budget meetings, during the COVID-19 emergency period, publication requirements of budget committee meeting notices may be satisfied by posting the notice in a prominent manner on the internet.

Tax Office shares property tax payment options

On Friday, the Deschutes County Tax office mailed close to 10,800 tax statements to property owners who have payments due by May 15. The State of Oregon has not extended the trimester deadline in light of COVID-19. 

To protect the health of our public and our employees during the current COVID-19 pandemic, Deschutes County is limiting public access to County offices, effective until at least May 1.

We ask that residents who need to make third-trimester payments consider the following payment options:

What if my short term rental was booked before Order 2020-017 went into effect on April 1?

Short term rental bookings for stays that begin after April 1 are prohibited through May 15, regardless of when they were booked, unless they fall into one of the exempted categories outlined in the order.
