Continuation of Health Insurance Benefits

Employees enrolled in the Deschutes County Employee Benefit group health insurance plan will have health coverage through the last day of the month in which their employment ends.  If you or your dependents have a unique health coverage situation, such as health coverage through another Deschutes County employee, please reach out to benefits@deschutes.org or call (541) 317-3154 to ensure a smooth benefits transition for you and your family upon departure.

When leaving employment, under Federal COBRA regulations, you are eligible to continue health insurance coverage and self-pay for yourself and eligible dependents for up to 18 months. COBRA is a transition solution to cover you until you enroll in a new medical plan.

PacificSource Administrators provides all administration services for those who elect to continue health coverage under COBRA.  PacificSource Administrators will notify you of your COBRA rights and send all necessary enrollment forms, information, and costs for continuing your health insurance via US mail to your mailing address on record. You have 60 days from the loss of your health coverage to enroll in COBRA continuation.  As allowed under Federal law, the County's  COBRA rates include a 2% administration fee.

If you do not receive COBRA enrollment paperwork within 2 weeks after your health coverage ends, or you have further questions, please contact PacificSource at 888-246-1370.
