Deschutes County Courthouse Expansion Project

In 2022, the Oregon Judicial Department appointed two additional judges to the Deschutes County Circuit Court in Bend. To provide adequate courtroom space for the new judges, as well as to improve the accessibility and security of the courthouse, the County developed a project to expand and remodel the existing facility. 

Construction of the Courthouse Expansion Project began in the spring of 2024. A new, three-story, 50,933 square foot structure is being added to the existing courthouse, which will include:

Deschutes County is accepting applications from community members who are interested in serving on the County’s Facility Project Review Committee. There are currently two unpaid, volunteer positions open.

Scope of Work:

Removal of existing roofing down to the built-up roof system with inspection, cleaning, and potential repair of BUR prior to proceeding.  
Do not remove more in one work period than can be rendered watertight at the end of that work period.

Crews to begin dismantling AJ Tucker building facade

On Monday, Feb. 19, crews will begin dismantling and cataloguing the blocks of the front facade of the historic AJ Tucker building, which is located at the corner of NW Greenwood and NW Harriman in downtown Bend.
