Roger Dawes, from the Oregon Government Finance Officers Association (OGFOA), gave two awards to the Deschutes County Finance Department last Monday morning, May 4, at the Board of Commissioners meeting. Both awards were given to Finance for the County's annual budget beginning July 1, 2014.

Accounting Manager Jeanine Faria was given the GFOA Excellence in Financial Reporting award for the 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), and Budget Analyst Teri Maerki was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 2015 Budget Document.

The County has received the Excellence in Financial Reporting Award for the CAFR for the last 14 years. This award is the highest level of its' kind, awarded for Deschutes County's comprehensive annual financial report-signifying the highest standards of full disclosure to clearly communicate the County's financial story to the public. The Budget Presentation award has been given to DC for the last seven years for meeting the highest principles of government budgeting.

Teri is holding the Distinguished Budget Presentation award and Jeanine is holding the Certification of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award.  Both awards can be seen in the Deschutes County Administration Offices, 1300 NW Wall St. Ste. 200, in Bend.

The OGFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals across the Country. Roger Dawes is the Controller for Washington County and a recent past President of OGFOA. Because many of the staff in Finance helped to prepare the budget and the CAFR, the awards are a reflection of the great work the entire staff completes daily in the department.
