Weekly Road Construction Update - May 11 to May 17

Snow removal on Cascade Lakes Highway, May 9, 2025

Projects Administered by Deschutes County:

Paving of Powell Butte Highway & Nelson Road (Bend Area) – Crews will be paving Powell Butte Highway between McGrath Road and U.S. 20.

Traffic Information – Road users should expect single-lane closures facilitated by flaggers and delays of up to 20 minutes during work hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Hamehook Road Bridge Replacement (Bend Area) – Crews will be installing storm runoff channels and landscaping.

Traffic Information – Road users should watch for construction vehicles and equipment entering and exiting the roadway. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Projects Administered by Other Agencies:

U.S. 97: Terrebonne (Oregon Department of Transportation) – Crews will be doing grading and paving work on Lower Bridge Way near U.S. 97.

Traffic Information – Lower Bridge Way is closed to traffic between U.S. 97 and Morning Glory Drive until May 15. Traffic will detour via NW 19th Street and NW Davidson Way. Beginning on May 16, Lower Bridge Way will open to traffic allowing right-in, right-out movements only. Traffic bound for U.S. 97 North will continue to use the detour route. 11th Street remains closed to traffic between C Avenue north to U.S. 97.

Deschutes Market Road / Yeoman Road Intersection Closure (City of Bend) – Deschutes Market Road will be closed to traffic at the intersection with Yeoman Road for roundabout construction.

Traffic Information – Deschutes Market Road remains closed to traffic at Yeoman Road. A detour route is in place via Deschutes Market Road, Hamehook Road and Butler Market Road.

Inquiries pertaining to this closure should be directed to the City of Bend Transportation and Mobility Department.

Woodside Drive Irrigation Crossing (Arnold Irrigation District) – No work will be occurring.

Traffic Information – Woodside Drive is open to traffic between Pine Vista Drive and Rusticate Road with temporary gravel surfacing. Traffic should use caution when navigating the gravel-surfaced area.

China Hat Road & FS Road 1815 Closure (US Forest Service) – China Hat Road and Forest Service Road 1815 are both closed at the USFS Boundary for forest thinning work.

Traffic Information – China Hat Road and FS Road 1815 are closed to all traffic at the end of County maintenance. Access to the area is closed until further notice.

Other Road Impacts:

Cascade Lakes Highway Closure – Cascade Lakes Highway between Mt. Bachelor and FS Road 4270 is currently scheduled to open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 22. Once the highway is open to traffic, road users should use caution, watch for icy spots and be aware that significant roadside snow still exists in higher elevations. Access to side roads, parking areas and other amenities may be restricted.

Paulina Lake Road Closure – Paulina Lake Road east of Ten Mile Sno-Park is currently scheduled to open at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14. Once the road is open to traffic, road users should use caution, watch for icy spots and be aware that significant roadside snow still exists in higher elevations. Access to side roads, parking areas and other amenities may be restricted.
