Onsite Inspections

Notice

• Upload your As-Built via Oregon ePermitting prior to scheduling a Final Inspection. OAR 340.071.0170(3)
• ATT, sand filters and pressure distribution systems will need to provide a start up inspection report prior to issuing Certificate of Satisfactory Completion.  
• Incomplete work will result in additional inspection fees, ensure that the work being inspected is complete prior to scheduling inspections. 
• For safety of our staff, all pets must be put in a separate area from Inspectors.
• Gate code information must be included in inspection notes, if applicable.
• The following inspections should only be scheduled if you are completely ready, if there are circumstances where you need a partial inspection, reach out to septic@deschutes.org for further instructions.

Onsite Wastewater System Inspection List

Standard System

1. Schedule a Pre-Cover inspection (#7020) prior to backfilling. Staff will be inspecting the following items:
   • Septic Tank Inspection
   • Tank Water Tightness Test 
   • Effluent Line Inspection 
   • Drainfield Inspection 
2. Upload your As-Built via Oregon Epermitting prior to scheduling a Final Inspection.
3. Schedule a Final inspection (#7999) 

Capping Fill System

1.  Schedule an Initial Capping Fill inspection (#7810) prior to installing the drainfield cap. Staff will be inspecting the following items:
   • Cap Material Inspection
   • Septic Tank Inspection 
   • Tank Water Tightness Test
   • Pressure or Effluent Line Inspection 
   • Scarification 
   • Drainfield Inspection 
2. Schedule a Secondary Capping Fill inspection (#7830) after the drainfield cap is installed.
3. Upload your As-Built via Oregon Epermitting prior to scheduling a Final Inspection.
4. Schedule a Final inspection (#7999). It will include erosion control establishment.

Pressure Distribution System

1. Schedule a Pressure Distribution inspection (#7590) once the distribution laterals are installed. Staff will be inspecting the following items:
   • Septic Tank Inspection
   • Effluent Line Inspection
   • Drainfield Inspection
2. Schedule a Squirt Test inspection (#7030) prior to installing the top layer of drain media. Staff will be inspecting the following items:
   • Tank Water Tightness Test 
   • Pump/Alarm System 
3. Upload your As-Built via Oregon Epermitting prior to scheduling a Final Inspection.
4. Schedule a Final inspection (#7999) 

Sand Filter System

1.  Schedule an Initial Sand Filter inspection (#7230) prior to installing sand media. You may have gravel in the box. Staff will be inspecting the following items:
   • Scarification
   • Sand Filter Liner/Box 
2. Schedule a Secondary Sand Filter inspection (#7240) prior to installing the drain media/underdrain media.
3. Schedule a Squirt Test inspection (#7030) prior to installing the top layer of drain media. Staff will be inspecting the following items:
   • Septic Tank Inspection 
   • Tank Water Tightness Test
   • Pressure or Effluent Line Inspection 
   • Pump/Alarm System 
4. Schedule a Sand Filter Cover inspection (#7250) to inspect the drain media cover and filter fabric.
5. Upload your As-Built via Oregon Epermitting prior to scheduling a Final Inspection.
6. Schedule a Final inspection (#7999) to inspect the backfill.

Additional ATT Inspections

• Schedule an Initial Advanced Treatment Technology inspection (#7710) for ATT installations.
• This inspection is typically combined with a Pre-Cover inspection (#7020) or Squirt Test inspection (#7030).
