PURPOSE AND NEED

The Smith Rock Way Bridge is a two-lane timber structure which spans the North Unit irrigation canal. Smith Rock Way is an east-west arterial roadway linking the communities east of Terrebonne to US 97. The roadway has an Average Daily Traffic (ADT) of approximately 900 vehicles per day. The route is frequently used by heavy trucks as a connection to Crook County due to length restrictions on the nearby OR 370. The bridge was constructed in 1971.  The bridge and substructure are exhibiting signs of deterioration which warrants replacement.  The bridge is currently weight-restricted.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Project scope includes:

  • Removing and replacing the existing bridge with a single-span precast, pre-stressed concrete slab structure.
  • Installing new asphalt concrete pavement bridge approaches.
  • Installing guardrail on approaches.

ESTIMATED COST AND SCHEDULE

The current estimated project cost is $1.1 million.

Anticipated project schedule:

  • Preliminary Engineering:     April 2022 – October 2023
  • Construction:                         November 2023 – June 2024
