Bid proposals were received on September 27, 2023.  The Contract was awarded to Waldron & Sons, Inc. on October 18, 2023.

PURPOSE AND NEED

The Gribbling Road Bridge is a single-lane, single-span timber structure which spans the Central Oregon irrigation canal. Gribbling Road is a north-south local roadway connecting the communities southeast of Bend to US 20. The route also serves as secondary access to these communities for emergency services. The bridge was constructed in 1958 and is part of the National Bridge Inventory (NBI) (Bridge No. 17C30).

The bridge is structurally deficient and scour critical, and the bridge has a posted weight limit of 5 tons.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Project scope includes:

  • Removing and replacing the existing bridge with a single-span precast, pre-stressed concrete slab structure.
  • Installing new asphalt concrete pavement bridge approaches.
  • Installing guardrail on approaches.

ESTIMATED COST AND SCHEDULE

The current estimated project cost is $970,000.

Anticipated project schedule:

  • Preliminary Engineering:     April 2022 – August 2023
  • Construction:                         November 2023 – June 2024
