WIC provides a variety of fun and interactive classes each month. Call WIC at (541) 322-7400 for specific dates and times. WIC classes are free and open only to WIC participants. Children are welcome to attend with you. Most classes are also offered in Spanish.
Basic breastfeeding information is presented that covers both traditional and biological nurturing approaches. Group participants will discuss topics of concern and will watch breastfeeding video clips that help demonstrate a variety of positions and ways for moms to help babies latch-on to breastfeed.
This is a short talk at the end of the breastfeeding class that covers the requirements of getting a pump from WIC. We also discuss the logistics of pumping while going to work or school.
Baby Let's Eat (Birth to 1 year)
Every baby is special and different and develops at his or her own rate. Join with other parents and babies for an opportunity to share, discuss and learn about how and when to begin spoon feeding, introducing a cup, cleaning baby’s mouth and teeth, starting table foods and finger foods, when and how to begin dairy foods, weaning and much more.
Got Teeth? Meet with an Expanded Practice Permit Dental Hygienist to discuss any dental concerns you have. Receive dental assistance and education tailored to meet the needs of you and/or your child. Examination of the teeth, gums and fluoride varnish is available if desired, but not required.
Fit Kids/Fit Families (3-5 years of age)
Fit Kids will give you and your preschooler a chance to play and have fun, while learning how to eat healthy. Creative, safe, low-cost, and age appropriate activities for preschoolers are demonstrated. Music and a healthy snack will be provided.
Kids' Club (3-5 years of age)
This fun and interactive group is especially for young children. Puppet shows, story-telling, singing songs, tasting yummy foods, playing games and learning all kinds of things about good food and good health are part of Kids' Club. This is meant to be a special time for you and your child to be together, learn how to stay healthy, and to play and learn with other kids.
No Battles, Better Eating (age 2 and older)
This class is designed to help parents understand why children eat the way they do and to give parents ideas for helping kids eat better. Discussion also includes realistic expectations of a toddler’s food intake. There will be delicious recipes and tips to get your toddler interested in eating a variety of foods.
Prenatal Nutrition and Fitness
In this group your pregnancy is celebrated! Class includes facilitated group discussion about current topics for pregnant women; including fun ways to get to know each other, and how to support and learn from each other.
A Taste of WIC
A monthly nutrition fair emphasizing a healthy theme. WIC families love this option because it is flexible and they always enjoy provided recipes and ideas for healthy families. OSU Extension provides participants with a recipe demonstration to taste.
Story Time for Families (3 to 5 years)
A time for parents and children to enjoy hearing a story about the things we need to grow big and strong. Get tips for making reading to your children fun and interactive. Each child will receive a special book that they can take home.
Stretching Your Food Dollars
Together, we'll discover several money saving tips guaranteed to stretch your food dollars. In addition, you’ll see how easy it is to prepare low-cost, simple, and nutritious meals from your home. Bring your own smart shopping ideas to class and we’ll learn from each other
