Upon Completion, the New Redmond Hotel was billed as the
finest hotel east of the mountains. Room rates ranged from $1.00 to
$2.50 per day. The original Redmond Hotel, a 1906 two-story frame
building, burnt to the ground in 1927 after a massive fire that also
destroyed 2 1/2 blocks of the downtown core and twelve businesses.
The 43,500 sq. ft. hotel was designed by Bend architect Hugh Thompson, and
constructed for $150,000.
