When this building was constructed it was classified information.  It originally served as the main hanger at the Redmond Army training base.  Inside P-38 and heavy B-17 Bombers were stored.  This is the only structure remaining at the airport from its service as an Army training base.  The military gave ownership of the entire base to the City of Redmond in 1946.  The City the converted the base into civilian operations and today is home to the J.R. Roberts Field.  Today the city leases the building to Butler Air for the storage of private planes.
