At the time of construction in 1921, the Redmond Union High School was the largest and most impressive structure in all of Redmond.  Local Bend Architect Lee Thomas drew the plans while, famed Central Oregon contactors, Olson & Erickson carried out Thomas' design.  About 400,000 bricks from the Bend brick yard were used in its construction.  Cost of the school was $100,000.  The school originally served a district of over 500 square miles.

The architectural firm of Freeman & Hayslip of Portland designed the gymnasium in 1944.  And under the supervision of A.W. Manchester of Julius Johnson Construction, the gym was completed in January of 1945.
