Camp Abbot Officers Club

Address: 57081 Meadows Road, Sunriver, OR.
Year Built: 1944
Architect: Captain John V. Banks
Builder:  Army Corps of Engineers
Landmark Status: Local Landmark

Built as an officers mess hall for Camp Abbot, the building is the last remaining structure from a military training camp constructed south of Bend, Oregon.  The building, known today as the Great Hall, was built by the Army Corp of Engineers as a training operation.  The 50 x 96 foot structure was built under the supervision of Capt. McKeon in 1943-44.

Used for less than a year, the facility and surrounding military base was eventually purchased by John Gray, a developer, in the mid 1960s.  Grey turned the base into the Sunriver destination resort and converted the Officers Club into a grand conference meeting room.
