Redmond

Redmond may be the second largest city in Deschutes County, but ask residents on the street and they'll tell you the city comes in first when it comes to friendliness.

But the city offers more than just a friendly tip of the hat.

Redmond is the geographic heart of Central Oregon, and continues to be among the fastest-growing cities in the state.

Many residents now choose to live in Redmond and commute to work elsewhere because home prices are generally lower in Redmond than in Bend and Sisters.

Besides, Redmond is within an hour's drive to most of Central Oregon's best know scenic and recreation attractions. A few examples are Smith Rock State Park, Lake Billy Chinook, the Ochoco Mountains, and the Cascade Mountain Range.

But on a sunny day, residents like to take a stroll around the city's quaint historic downtown area on their way to a summer market. Downtown Redmond features historic buildings, dozen of shops and several restaurants.

The burgeoning south side of the city is home to Robert's Field, Central Oregon's only airport with commercial airline service. Nearby is the , 132 -acre Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center, the primary location for rodeos, concerts and myriad of other events.

The Eagle Crest destination resort community is located roughly 10 miles west of the city, and Crooked River Ranch offers scenic golfing and a ranch-like communities about 10 miles to the north of Redmond.
