In the State of Oregon, counties and cities are required to develop and adopt comprehensive land use plans to guide development at least 20 years into the future. Each plan inventories current development and resources and predicts future demand for land and services. Zoning designations are the result of the findings of these comprehensive plans. Every piece of property in the county has a zoning designation. Zoning designations establish purposes for zones, uses allowed both outright and with conditions, setbacks, restrictions and several other standards and criteria for use of land. There are separate comprehensive plan and zoning regulations for the County and for the urban growth boundaries (UGB's) of the cities of Sisters, Redmond and Bend. |
