Pure drinking water; environmentally-safe sewers; well paved streets; and engineering of the City's infrastructure are included in the responsibilities of the Public Works department.  As the provider of many of the basic services that affect the daily lives of everyone who lives and works in Bend, our goal is to provide the most efficient and cost-effective services possible to meet the needs of our growing community, today and into the future.

Each year our Water Division distributes over 4 billion gallons of award-winning water to Bend residents and our Water Reclamation Division collects and treats over 1.6 billion gallons of wastewater.  Streets, water lines, sewer lines, and storm drains in residential areas are usually built by developers, however it's the Public Works Department that ensures the quality of these improvements and maintains them.
