Deschutes County is well served by a number of institutions who provide a wide range of educational opportunities. Within the County are three public school districts providing traditional elementary, middle-school, and high school programs. In addition, the County is fortunate to have extensive college offerings provided by the Cascade Campus of Oregon State University and Central Oregon Community College. Continuing adult education classes are also offered by the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council.

The County is also fortunate in having a wide range of geographically disbursed libraries who offer an excellent selection of library books and research opportunities.
