La Pine Public Library

La Pine

The La Pine Public Library opened on November 15, 2000. Our children's room is a vibrant and exciting place, with plenty of books and toys for children to share. An active teen section supports an energetic teen group, who use the library as a place to meet and hang out with friends. We also have a quiet, relaxing reading area where anyone can read, study, or unwind while enjoying the pleasant view. Plus we have wireless internet access!

"What are your favorite books?" is a question asked frequently of our staff here in La Pine. Check out our Staff Picks to the left, and find a great book hand-picked by our team!

The La Pine Public Library Welcomes Students!

Now that the school year is in full swing, students are in need of resources for school assignments. Whether they are working on a report or looking for something interesting to read, the La Pine Public Library has the resources they need! All Deschutes Public Libraries are open 7 days a week, with access to online resources 24-hours a day via our website. All you need is a valid library card, and the Library is ready to help!

The La Pine Public Library is very active during the after school hours. If you or your student are planning to come to the library, there are a few things to remember:
**Bring your library card. You will need this to check out materials and access the internet and Microsoft tools.
**Bring a copy of your assignment. The staff will help you find what you need, but they need to know what you are looking for!
**Bring respect. The Library needs to be welcoming to everyone, and unruly behavior not only reflects poorly upon our youth, it discourages others from entering our doors. We ask that everyone adhere to our Patron Code of Conduct.

If you are not at the Library with your student, and he or she misbehaves, we will ask them to leave for the day. If the behavior continues throughout the year, we will contact you to discuss the situation, and they may be excluded from the library for up to 3 years. But remember, we cannot speak to you unless we know who your student is and how to contact you, especially in an emergency. Getting a library card for your child will help us get to know your student and enable us to get in touch with you when needed.

Remember, the La Pine Public Library is ready, willing, and able to help your student have a successful school year. Please do not hesitate to stop in, take a look around, and ask questions of the staff.
