About Us

Seventeen Parole and Probation Officers supervise approximately 1,400 offenders who have been convicted of crimes ranging from Driving While Suspended to Murder.  We contribute to public safety and, therefore, impact the community, victims and offenders by holding offenders accountable and providing an opportunity for them to change thinking, attitudes and behaviors that were factors in their criminal activity.  This includes:

  • face-to-face contact with offenders, their families and significant others in the office, in their homes and workplaces

  • substance abuse testing

  • referral to appropriate treatment programs and on-going contact with treatment providers

  • connecting with the court system to determine payment of court fees and victim restitution.

Through community partnerships we are able to offer offenders additional services such as an on-site Employment Division kiosk, educational videos, and cognitive and life-skills classes.  These are all aimed at enhancing offender job search options and emphasizing non-criminal thinking and decision making skills.

In the last few years the work of Parole and Probation Officers has become increasingly complex.  New policies and procedures have been added while existing requirements have become more detailed.  It is our belief that the job of a Parole and Probation Officer is one of the most important that there is.  The Probation office is responsible for protecting the community as well as holding offenders accountable and creating opportunities for them to enhance pro-social skills.  One of a Probation Officer’s most important jobs is to model pro-social behavior.

This department is committed to promoting public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions and by providing alternatives to criminal attitudes, beliefs and behavior.
