Screening: If there are symptoms such as warts, HPV can be diagnosed by visual inspection. If there are no symptoms, there is no test for HPV in men. A pap test can be used to detect most types of HPV in women.
Treatment: Since it is a viral infection, once you’re infected you will always have it. However, visible infections such as warts can be treated with cream or freezing.
Prevention: There is also an HPV Vaccine available for women ages 13 to 26 and is most effective for preventing HPV if given before girls become sexually active.
