Units Within the Corrections Division
Jail Administration: Command Staff are responsible for planning, legal issues, the budget, formulating policy and procedure and evaluating program performance.
Booking and Release: Booking staff are responsible for receiving new intakes, recording personal information and charges, capturing fingerprints and pictures and making release decisions.
Custody: Custody staff are responsible for jail safety and security and the day-to-day care and custody of all inmates in their charge. (Rule enforcement, discipline, feeding, clothing exchange, visiting, sick call, managing inmate workers, sanitation, documentation, etc.)
Court Security: Court Security staff escort inmates to the courthouse for their court appearances.
Transportation: Transport staff delivers inmates to and from other facilities.
Control Center: The Control Center Deputies are responsible for controlling access to and from the facility. Additionally they monitor inmate activities in the housing units, and assist with security for deputies interacting with inmates when in the housing units. Additionally, they monitor radios, fire alarms, intercoms and cameras.
Classifications: Classification Deputies are responsible for determining the security level of each inmate lodged in the jail. They also maintain disciplinary records and the grievance process.
Programs: Programs staff provides a variety of classes and activities that help inmates with substance abuse issues, adult basic education (GED), life skills and job preparedness.
Medical: Medical personnel perform health screenings upon intake and provide medical care and medications, as needed, while the inmate is in jail. They also respond to medical emergencies within the jail and determine if a 911 response is necessary.
Mental Health: Mental Health Specialists perform mental health screenings upon intake and provide mental health care and medications, as needed, while the inmate is in jail. They respond to the inmates’ mental health emergencies. Also, they make referrals to outside agencies for inmates upon their release from custody.
Records: Records staff maintain the Criminal Identification Files of all inmates processed through the jail. The Records staff is in charge of processing and maintaining warrants. They are also responsible for a variety of administrative functions such as: accept and process bail papers and funds, process incoming inmate mail, maintain inmate money transactions; serves as the initial contact for public inquiries including visiting; and performs other administrative functions.
Kitchen: Kitchen contract staff provide inmates with three nutritionally adequate meals daily. They also provide meals for jail staff, and the Juvenile Detention Facility.
