Juvenile Crime Prevention
Cascade Youth and Family Center (Ages 11-21 years) Provides family mediation, temporary shelter for runaway and throwaway youths, crisis intervention, positive youth development groups, substance abuse development groups, street outreach services, and 24-hour Crisis Hotline, and referral information. Youth Diversion Programs Bend: Youth Enhancement Services (Y.E.S.)- First Offender diversion program to divert first time misdemeanants and class C felons from more formal juvenile court/probation process. Services include teaching youths the decision-making process, providing law-related education and individual counseling, monitoring school progress, and acting as a support system for youths and parents. La Pine: La Pine Youth Diversion Services- Program serves youths ages 7-17 years in all of south county. Generally serves first time offenders, but can include youths who are deemed at risk of becoming offenders. Includes counseling, referral to appropriate resources, law-related education, and opportunities for youths to participate in the Teen Court Program. Phone 541-536-5002
Redmond: Juvenile Services Program (JSP)- Includes Teen Court, where cases are presented and heard by a jury of peers, and Diversion, which is an informal disposition hearing in lieu of formal prosecution within juvenile court. Phone 541-504-3485
Sisters: Juvenile Empowerment Team (J.E.T.)- Includes a Teen Court program which holds first time youth offenders accountable for their delinquent acts. Affords opportunity to learn about the judicial system and be an active part of the solution process. Phone 541-549-2302
