Statement of Purpose

The Professional Advisory Council will function as an inclusive, cohesive, and proactive group of social service managers to:

• Improve local service systems so people can find the help they need.
• Educate the public and service providers.
• Focus community support and assistance.
• Work in partnership with the Deschutes County Commission on Children & Families, the Central Oregon Partnership and other community coalitions.

To fulfill this purpose, we will:

• Create an environment where dialogue and an open exchange of ideas can flourish.
• Operate as a decision making body with a clear structure and process.
• Promote and help address the highest priorities in the Community Plan.
• Consolidate planning and evaluation efforts when possible to limit duplication.
• Identify and link resources to help residents of Deschutes County and Central Oregon.
• Collaborate through shared decision making and the pooling of resources.
• Encourage direct service staff in our agencies to collaborate for the benefit of the people we serve.
• Meet our legal obligations as an advisory body to the Deschutes CCF.
• Help the CCF and the Central Oregon Partnership create and meet county and regional goals.
