Early Childhood Outcomes from 1997-2001
- Readiness to Learn- Increased from 53.2% in 1997 to 63% in 2000.
- Child Care Availability- Decreased steadily from 20.5/100 slots in 1997 to 15.2/100 slots in 2001.
- Prenatal Care- Increased from 84.3% of mothers receiving adequate care in 1997 to 89.7 % in 2001.
- Infant Mortality- Has increased from 4.6/1,000 in 1997 to 9.5/1,000 in 2001.
- Immunizations- Data unavailable within time constraints.
- Child Abuse- Rate of incidents have decreased from 9.2/1000 in 1997 to 4.9/1000 in 2001.
Local Outputs Help to Tell Our Success Story
- Ready Set Go- Served 3500 families between 1994-2002
- First Steps- (prevention dollars)- Served over 200 students and their families since the beginning of the program in 1998.
- Child Care- Dollars have been shifted to systems/regional focused work v.s. individual child care center grants. Over 200 providers have attended quality training from 2002-2003.
- Together For Children- Has served over 2250 families since 1989.
