Special Districts

Special districts are special purpose taxing districts established to provide limited public services to members of the public residing within the taxing district. Examples include rural fire protection districts, special road districts and domestic water supply districts.

All boundary changes to special districts -- such as formations, annexations, mergers and withdrawals -- are subject to approval by the Board of County Commissioners. Legal Counsel assists the Board in processing special district boundary changes by providing forms and information to individuals wishing to be included or excluded from the area covered by special districts.
