About Board Meetings

The Deschutes County Board of Commissioners’ formal business meetings are scheduled for Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.  An agenda, posted to the County website by Monday afternoon, lists the items to be addressed at the Wednesday meeting.

The Board has also set aside Mondays at 10:00 a.m. to address land use issues – public hearings, deliberations and decisions – so that there is adequate time to focus on land use issues outside of the regular Wednesday business meeting.   If it is necessary to hold a Monday morning meeting, documents relating to the land use issue(s) to be addressed will be posted on the County website by the Friday morning preceding the Monday meeting. 

The Board does not meet on the third week of the month, based on the Wednesday.  If a regular meeting day falls on a legal holiday, the meeting will be canceled for that week.  If two or more Commissioners are unable to attend a meeting due to conferences, vacations or illness, the meeting will be canceled or rescheduled as needed.

Occasionally the Board will conduct formal meetings in other locations and at other times of the day, perhaps in the early evening, to accommodate the public, especially if the meeting relates to a controversial land use matter or is an item of great interest to citizens.  Please check meeting information ahead of time to make sure the meeting is going to be held in the regular location and at the usual time, and to find out if a special meeting has been scheduled to address a specific issue.

Minutes of Board meetings are posted as soon as possible after the meeting.  They can be found by date under the Board’s public meeting schedule.
