Indoor Movement Ideas
Head INSIDE for some purposeful movement when it gets too smoky or too cold to enjoy the outdoors.
Indoor Fun Fitness Ideas:
Dancing! What is your favorite song to dance to? Dance like no one is watching, or get down with family or friends. Consider a Zumba type class, You-Tube video or dance steps video game for further inspiration.
Obstacle course. Get creative indoors in your own space or collect some friends or co-workers and utilize a larger space such as an office area. Include stairs, long hallways for lunges or crawling- crab walk anyone? Set up fun barriers with pillows or limbo under chairs with blankets-or maybe set a timer and that is your finish line?! Broad jump next to your couch or take turns jumping over pillows. Whatever you do, make it fun.
Boxing. Maybe you feel like hitting something (hopefully not someone)? Shadow boxing is an excellent cardio activity and also works your core like nothing else. It might even be better than hitting an actual something because you have to use muscles to stop yourself instead of following your punch through into the bag. Locally, Box-It in Bend offers boxing classes at their studio but also virtually.
Climbing. Find an indoor space to climb! Much better than climbing the walls in your house... Choose between a rock climbing gym where you are harnessed in and let back down the wall by a pulley or your partner or try bouldering. When bouldering you are not harnessed in and therefore climb back down once you have reached your limit. There is something for everyone and nothing like the sense of accomplishment literally reaching your goal provides.
Swimming. Indoors and full body low impact movement. Swim laps on your own or consider trying a water aerobics class for more interaction.
Make your own fun. Google ideas for walking like animals and have fun judging each other who did it best. Crab walk anyone? Bear crawl?
Timer work. Set a timer for every hour. Choose a movement: pushups, squats, calf raises, sit-ups, plank, skipping in place...endless options. Do 5 sets of the movement(s) you have chosen every time the timer goes off.
