The county forecloses for nonpayment of property taxes. We have an auction once a year, usually in spring or summer. Check this website for announcements.
Sheriff's Sales: These are judicial foreclosures, usually when someone does not pay their mortgage. You can see a list of property to be sold at http://sheriff.deschutes.org/Divisions/Civil/Real-Property-Sales/
Trustees Sales: These sales are non-judicial. These sales are published in a newspaper. The Sheriff’s Office has no information regarding Trustees Sales, but is happy to assist those that contact our office. The procedures regarding Trustees Sales can be found in ORS 86.705 – 86.795. As far as we know, there is no list of properties being sold by trustees/banks. Deschutes County is not involved in bank foreclosures. You can contact the County Clerk and research public records for Notices of Default and Intention to Sell. You would have to search by address or the name of the entity that holds the mortgage. email@example.com or (541) 388-6549.
For a fee, the county tax department can produce a list of properties in foreclosure for nonpayment of property taxes. firstname.lastname@example.org or (541) 388-6540.
