Spay & Neuter Grants Offered to Non-Profits

Grant applications due December 3, 2010

Deschutes County Oregon -- 11/4/2010 --

Deschutes County is offering grants to local non-profit organizations for providing spay and neuter services. A total of $12,400 is available for these grants. Applications to apply for the grants are due Friday, December 3, 2010.

In November 2007, Deschutes County Dog License and Pet ID Applications were changed to include a voluntary donation for spay and neuter services. Each year, the voluntary donations are offered to non-profit organizations in Deschutes County providing spay and neuter services to those who would not otherwise undertake the procedure due to financial constraints or physical limitations. Grant funds may also be used for educational or promotional programs focused on expanding spay and neuter services in Deschutes County.

Requirements for applicants to the community grant program include the following: the applicant must be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, must be located in Deschutes County, and the proceeds from the grant must be utilized in support of Deschutes County residents.

Applications will be judged based on several criteria, including organizational stability, connection to grant funding objectives and leverage for organization to receive other funding.

The deadline to apply for a grant is December 3, 2010 and grants will be awarded in January 2011. The application form will be available on the Deschutes County website www.deschutes.org beginning Monday, November 8, 2010.

Interested parties may also pick up an application packet in the Deschutes County Administration office on the second floor of the Deschutes County Services Center building at 1300 NW Wall Street in Bend. Completed applications must be mailed or sent electronically (davidi@deschutes.org) to the Deschutes County Administrative Services department on or before the deadline.
