Sheriff's Office Power Outage Update

Widespread outages persist due to severe weather.

Deschutes County Oregon -- 2/18/2011 --

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management has been in contact with Pacific Power and Central Electric Coop this morning and has learned the following:

Pacific Power Co. currently has about 600 customers’ with-out power, some are individual problems. They are working very hard on the problems and hope to have most, if not all power back on by nightfall. Two specific areas that are current issues are at Bond/Reed Ln. which is affecting about 300 customers and hope to be back up by mid-day. A second area is China Rd. with about 150 customers affected and hopeful to have back up by early this afternoon.

Central Electric Coop. has about 500 customers with-out power mainly scattered throughout the Sisters and Bend areas. They too are working very hard on problems and hope to have all customers powered back up by nightfall.
The Red Cross Shelter at Skyview Middle School was closed down at about 0745 hours this morning. There was little to no activity at the shelter during the night but it remained open for people. Emergency Management and Red Cross will re-evaluate the current situation after 1600 hours this evening to determine any need for a shelter tonight.

Emergency Management has set up an information line that will be updated as new information is available: 541-550-4888

We have also set-up a Media line at: 541-550-4850 #4

Persons now need to be aware of the possibility of frozen pipes and dangers of downed trees or limbs around their homes. Winter is not over, we urge people to prepare now in case of another winter storm that may cause power outages.
