Public Health Advisory Board Volunteers Needed

The Deschutes County Public Health Advisory Board (PHAB) is currently seeking volunteers to fill several vacant board positions. Citizens who are interested in helping plan, support and evaluate how public health services are delivered and funded in Deschutes County should consider applying. The deadline to apply for PHAB is Friday, June 17.

PHAB assists in the development of and advocacy for public policy that promotes and protects the health of Deschutes County citizens. The Board also advocates funding services that help sustain the public health system to improve the health of special populations.

PHAB helps in developing priorities for services, helps to guide the Department's strategic planning efforts and advises the Deschutes County Board of County Commissioners and Health Services Director about decisions related to health programs and services.

The Board is in particular need of County residents from Redmond, La Pine and Sisters but welcomes any County resident to apply. PHAB welcomes volunteers to apply who are from the medical or insurance industries and individuals with a background or interest in public health.

Advisory Board members are volunteers and are not compensated. Membership requires attendance at monthly meetings and a sincere interest in promoting the health of citizens in Central Oregon. Each Board member term of service is three years in length.
