Livestock and/or dog owners/workers encouraged to apply
Deschutes County Oregon -- 1/4/2012 --
The Deschutes County Animal Control Board of Supervisors has openings now for volunteer Board members. The Board of Supervisors represents the Board of County Commissioners at hearings and make decisions on the disposition of dogs who are involved in the chasing, wounding, or killing of livestock.
Commissioners seek Deschutes County residents to fill the Board positions. Residents who are interested in attending hearings and participating in the decision process for the disposition of the dogs should consider applying.
The Board is in particular need of representatives who either have livestock and/or dogs or who have worked with livestock and/or dogs.
Board members are volunteers and are not compensated with the exception of mileage. Membership requires attendance at evening hearings held in Bend on an as-needed basis; and the term of service is two years.
