Behavioral Health Board Seeks Members

Deschutes County Oregon -- 12/7/2011 --

The Deschutes County Behavioral Health Advisory Board has openings now for volunteer Board members. The Advisory Board helps prepare the region for health care reform changes, develops health service priorities, evaluates the quality of these services, oversees the County Health Services Department’s strategic planning and advises the Deschutes County Board of County Commissioners about health-related matters.

Behavioral Health officials seek Deschutes County residents living in Bend, Redmond,
La Pine, Sisters and Sunriver to fill the Board positions. Residents who are interested in helping plan, guide and evaluate how publicly-funded mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse treatment services are delivered in Deschutes County and the region, should consider applying.

The Board is in particular need of representatives who have received behavioral health services in the community or those who have a personal perspective regarding the local system of care.  The Board is also in need of ethnic diversity.

Advisory Board members are volunteers and are not compensated.  Membership requires attendance at monthly meetings, usually held in Bend; and the term of service is three years.

Application packets and more information are available at the Deschutes County Health Services Department, 2577 NE Courtney Drive-second floor, in Bend or call (541) 322-7504.  Application packets are also available at the Deschutes County Personnel Office, Deschutes County Services Center, second floor at 1300 NW Wall Street in Bend.
