What is the Needle Exchange Program (NEX)?

What is the purpose of Needle Exchange?

Needle Exchange Programs encourage risk reeducation behaviors and meet people who inject drugs "where they are at." Needle and equipment sharing among persons who inject poses a great risk for transmitting and acquiring HIV and Hepatitis C. NEX programs have proven to be a bridge to other public health services such as HIV and Hepatitis C testing, vaccinations, well woman exams, drug treatment, and other social services.

Questions or concerns about Needle Exchange please call a HIV Health Educator at (541) 322-7425 or (541) 408-1209.
