Deschutes County is presently conducting a major multi-year remapping project through which we are improving the positional accuracy of our taxlots base. Taxlots within all urban areas are presently very accurate and as of Spring 2011, over 92 percent of our taxlots meet ORMAP accuracy standards. However, rural taxlots in certain areas of the County are not tied to adequate survey control. In order to improve this situation we are systematically going through the County regenerating taxlots based on improved control using Coordinate Geometry routines.
One of the outcomes of this project is that taxlot boundaries are changing. This can be problematic for agencies that have developed their GIS data based on current taxlot boundaries. While this in an unfortunate short term situation, the long term result will be positive, with linework mapped to a high level of controlled accuracy. Although changes are being performed on a daily basis, we only put the changes into affect for large geographic areas. The information below provides an indication regarding what areas are presently being worked on and the approximate time as to when the changes will go into affect:
Current Remapping Areas
Black Butte Area - We are presently working on remapping the Black Butte area; Township 1409. We anticipate the completion of this area in the 4th quarter 2011.
Sunriver Area - we are presently working on remapping the Sunriver area; Townships 1911 and 2011. We anticipate completion of this area in 2012.
Recently Completed Remapping Areas
The Plainview Ranch - Effective as of January 2011, this area has been remapped with taxlots and other GIS data now tied to control. Data within Township 1611 now reflect the correct positional location.
Cloverdale/Sisters Area - Effective as of September 2008, the Cloverdale and greater Sisters area has been remapped. Taxlots within Townships 1410, 1411, 1412, 1510, 1511, and 1512 have been committed to the GIS system and are included in the countywide taxlots shapefile. Other GIS layers will shortly be adjusted to the more accurate taxlots.
South County Including Townships 2010 and 2011 - Effective as of August, 2007, all of South County with the exception of the Sunriver area has been remapped. Taxlots within South County have been committed to the GIS system and are included in the countywide taxlots shapefile.
