Choices (30-Day Extended Detention)

Deschutes County Juvenile Resource Center (Detention) offers Choices, a 30-day extended detention services program. Participants receive individualized and structured learning plans associated with their identified risk factors. All youth participate in regular detention activities. Services may include:

  • Case planning
  • Establishing individualized treatment goals
  • Promoting competency development
  • Groups focusing on substance abuse, job/life skills and behavior (e.g., Skills Streaming and TruThought curriculums)
  • Family meetings
  • School credit recovery and individual assistance with education needs and/or IEP services
Choices may be ordered by the Court (per Oregon Revised Statute 419.453). Choices conforms to the standards established by the State Commission on Children and Families (CCF). These standards include, but are not limited to:
  • Family and court counselor participation
  • Educational requirements
  • Rights to recreation 
Choices is subject to evaluation by the State Commission on Children and Families to ensure overall program compliance and efficacy.
