Twenty-one parole and probation officers supervise approximately 1,600 offenders who have been convicted of crimes ranging from Driving While Suspended to Murder. We contribute to public safety and, therefore, impact the community, victims and offenders by holding offenders accountable. We provide an opportunity for them to change thinking, attitudes and behaviors that were factors in their criminal activity. Accountability steps include the following actions:
Through community partnerships we are able to offer offenders additional services like an onsite Employment Division kiosk, educational videos, and cognitive and life skills classes. These services are all aimed at enhancing offender job search options and emphasizing non-criminal thinking and decision-making skills.
In the last few years, the work of parole and probation officers has become increasingly complex. New policies and procedures have been added while existing requirements have become more detailed. It is our belief that the job of a parole and probation officer is one of the most important that there is. The probation office is responsible for protecting the community, as well as holding offenders accountable and creating opportunities for them to enhance prosocial skills. One of a probation officer’s most important jobs is to model prosocial behavior.
Adult Parole & Probation is committed to promoting public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions and by providing alternatives to criminal attitudes, beliefs and behavior.
