Agricultural Lands Program

The Community Development Department is currently analyzing the County's agricultural lands program to
determine if changes are needed.  This analysis included community outreach with six public meetings held
throughout the county during the month of May.  These meetings provided the opportunity for residents and
community members to review existing conditions, understand emerging issues, and provide feedback about
the opportunities and challenges facing Exclusive Farm Use (EFU) designated lands.  In addition, several
stakeholder meetings were held at the request of those organizations to discussion their perspectives.

The results of the outreach and analysis are provided in the "Agricultural Lands Program Community Involvement
Results" report below.  The Planning Commission held a joint work session with the BOCC on June 26, 2014 to
discuss the results.  Staff gave a presentation and fielded questions from the Commissioners.  An opportunity for
public comment was then provided and several of those in attendance addressed the Commissioners.  Prior to
determining the next steps for the project, staff was directed to address issues raised at the meeting and during the
public process, including supplemental housing options on Exclusive Farm Use Zones.

A second joint meeting is scheduled for September 25, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. at the Deschutes Services Center,
1300 NW Wall Street, in the Barnes and Sawyer room in Bend.
