"You don't have to raise a child to raise them up. You just have to raise your hand and say you'll help. Whether you are able to open your home and heart to a foster child or have only a few hours to spare, you can give a Deschutes County child a better future."
The Deschutes County Children & Families Commission, CASA of Central Oregon, and the Department of Human Services encourage citizens to get involved in helping children and strengthening families.
A public awareness campaign, including TV ads and a website call attention to the challenges facing children in foster care, especially those in long-term foster care.
You may view the ads at http://www.raisemeup.oregon.gov/, learn more about foster care and find opportunities right here in Deschutes County to help children and families in need.
The website provides statewide and local links to state agencies and community organizations which serve children in foster care or work to keep children out of foster care and safely in their homes.
The Raise Me Up campaign is one small part of our efforts to safely and equitably reduce the number of children in foster care and improve the lives of children who remain in care.
Providing children with important services and supporting families with resources will ultimately reduce the need for foster care. As the ads say: "You don't have to raise a child to raise them up. You just have to raise your hand and say you'll help."
This program is supported by the Deschutes County Children & Families Commission.
