Interim County Administrator

Interim Deschutes County Administrator Erik Kropp was appointed on August 23, 2011.

Erik KroppErik Kropp was named Interim County Administrator effective August 23, 2011. He was originally hired as the Deputy County Administrator for Deschutes County in November 2007. The Deschutes County Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer. He is responsible for the administration and management of the County and its service districts and works under the direction of the Board of County Commissioners.

The County Administrator has specific authority to perform all day-to-day functions necessary for the administration and management of County affairs. The County Administrator provides direction to others concerning budget and the operation and maintenance of the personnel system.

Kropp provides direction to the appointed department heads and is the first point of contact with elected County officials. He supervises all administrative departments including Veterans' Services, Risk Management, Personnel, Internal Auditing, Public Communications and Building and Maintenance Services.

Prior to joining Deschutes County, Erik spent 13 years with the City of Phoenix, Arizona in various departments including budgeting, youth and education, parks and recreation, personnel, and public works.

Erik has a Master of Science degree in Policy Analysis from Penn State and a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Davis.
