Commissioner DeBone grew up in the suburb of Detroit in the town of Berkley, Michigan and attended college at Northern Michigan University. While attending college, his parents moved from Michigan to Hawaii. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Technology, Tony moved to Hawaii. He found a career at the highest peak of Haleakala working as a military contractor at the satellite tracking facility for Air Force Space Command and other research branches of the United States military.

While living on Maui Tony met his wife Kathy, a native Central Oregonian. They married and had their son Michael in Hawaii, then moved to Seattle, Washington for four years where Tony worked as an Associate Computational Scientist doing drug discovery research. The family moved to La Pine seeking a more rural lifestyle and to be closer to family.

Prior to his job as Commissioner, Tony served on the Board of Directors of the La Pine Park and Recreation District as Board Chair (www.LaPineParks.org), the La Pine Rodeo Association on Land Acquisition (www.LaPineRodeo.com) and was involved with the new-incorporated City of La Pine in 2006 (www.ci.la-pine.or.us).

Tony and Kathy are small business owners of Little d Technology in La Pine. Through the business, De Bone repairs computer systems and supports business owners with custom applications. He also is a website developer. From 2008 to 2010, Tony hosted a morning radio show on KITC Public Radio in Gilchrist, OR.
